Installation instructions for the AIC-6x60 OS/2 2.X-OS/2 3.x Driver
===================================================================

1) Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the System Setup folder.

2) Select Device Driver Install.

3) Insert the driver diskette to the appropriate drive.

4) CHANGE to the directory where the drivers are located.
    The OS/2 driver files are usually in the OS2 directory.

Installation instructions for the APA-1460 OS/2 PCMCIA Driver
=============================================================

The Card and Socket Services support from different vendors are
already included in OS/2 Warp diskettes or in CD-ROM installation
package. Therefore to install APA-1460 driver, just follow
the instruction below.

1) Open the OS/2 System folder, then open the Selective install.

2) Do PCMCIA installation (This installs the proper Card and Socket Services).

3) Edit CONFIG.SYS file and add BASEDEV=AHA152x.add.

4) Copy AHA152x.add to \OS2\BOOT directory.

5) Do a SHUTDOWN and power off the system.

6) Insert the APA-1460 card into the PCMCIA socket and connect to the SCSI
   peripherals.

7) Power up the system.

NOTES
=====
1) Currently, only one APA-1460 card is supported.

2) In order to install this driver for APA-1460 card, the system has
   to have OS/2 V3.0 pre-installed. Currently, IBM does not have the
   support for CDROM installation with any PCMCIA card attached to
   a CDROM. Therefore, it is NOT recommended to do OS/2 CDROM
   installation using PCMCIA card.

3) Currently IBM does not have APM support for PCMCIA card.

4) If you are installing the driver on the GA release of OS/2 2.0, you
   cannot install the driver by selecting the icon in the System Setup
   folder. Instead, open a full-screen OS/2 session and go to the
   directory where the drivers reside. Then type DDINSTAL and press ENTER.

Installation instructions for Compaq PD-CD Support in OS/2 2x-OS/2 3.x
======================================================================

    I. New Installation of OS/2 2.x-OS/2 3.x
    ----------------------------------------

    Before starting these procedures you will need to make a
    backup copy of the OS/2 "Diskette #1".

    WARNING: Please make all of the following changes to the
    backup diskette. Do not use the "Original" diskette #1.

    1) Delete the files "AHA174X.ADD" and "FD8XX.ADD" from diskette #1.

    2) Copy AHA152X.ADD from the \OS2 directory of the Adaptec 6000 Family
       Manager Set diskette to the copy of the OS/2 diskette #1. When
       prompted to overwrite the existing file, press "Y".

    3) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file found on the OS/2 backup diskette labeled
       "Diskette #1", change or add the following entries among the
       "BASEDEV" entries:

        Remove          BASEDEV=FD8XX.ADD
        Remove          BASEDEV=AHA174X.ADD
        Change          BASEDEV=AHA152X.ADD
        To              BASEDEV=AHA152X.ADD /ET

    4) Install OS/2 as normal using the modified diskette #1.

    5) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file add or ensure that the line:
       BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD exists.

    6) Copy the OPTICAL.SYS file from the PD-CD directory of
       the Compaq OS/2 SCSI Support Driver Diskette to
       the C:\OS2 directory.

    7) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file found in the root directory "C:\",
       add the following entry among the "DEVICE" entries:

       DEVICE=C:\OS2\OPTICAL.SYS

    8) Save the CONFIG.SYS file changes, then Shutdown and Restart
       the system.

    II. Existing Installation of OS/2 2.x-OS/2 3.x
    ----------------------------------------------

    For an existing OS/2 2.x installation, you must update the
    existing CONFIG.SYS file with changes to support the PD-CD.

    1) Copy AHA152X.ADD from the \OS2 directory of the Adaptec 6000 Family
       Manager Set diskette to the \OS2 directory on the fixed drive. When
       prompted to overwrite the existing file, press "Y".

    2) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file, change or add the following entries among
       the "BASEDEV" entries:

       Change        BASEDEV=AHA152X.ADD
       To            BASEDEV=AHA152X.ADD /ET

    3) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file add or ensure that the line:

       BASEDEV=OS2SCSI.DMD exists.

    4) Copy the OPTICAL.SYS file from the PD-CD directory of
       the Compaq OS/2 SCSI Support Driver Diskette to
       the C:\OS2 directory.

    5) In the "CONFIG.SYS" file found in the root directory "C:\",
       add the following entry among the "DEVICE" entries:

       DEVICE=C:\OS2\OPTICAL.SYS

    6) Save the CONFIG.SYS file changes, then Shutdown and Restart
       the system.

Command Line Options
====================

This driver (AHA152x.ADD) can support two host adapters and searches for
them at ports 340H and 140H; boards are assigned adapter numbers in the
order they are found.

Universal Parameters
--------------------

    /ET     - Allow embedded targets
    /!ET - Do not allow embedded targets (DEFAULT).
    /V      - Load driver verbosely.
    /SN - Allow synchronous negotiation (DEFAULT).
    /!SN    - Prevent synchronous negotiation.

Special Unit Parameters
-----------------------

    /BOFF:t - Allows the bus-off time to be set to a value between 1 and
              15 microseconds. The default value for OS/2 2.0 is 4
              microseconds and this should be used for most systems.
              (05/03/93 and later)
          *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an
              EISA system.

    /BON:t - Allows the bus-on time to be set to a value between 1 and 15
              microseconds. The default value for OS/2 2.0 is 7 microseconds
              and this value should be used for most systems.
              (05/03/92 and later)
          *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an
              EISA system.

    /CHAN:x - Specifies the DMA channel to be used in DMA mode. The
              available channels are 0, 5, 6 and 7. If an invalid channel is
              specifed, then 5 is used by default.
          *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an
              EISA system.

    /D - Allow targets to disconnect from the SCSI bus (DEFAULT).
    /!D - Prevent targets from disconnecting from the SCSI bus.

    /DMA - Use direct memory access to transfer data to/from the SCSI bus.
          *** This option is only supported by the AIC-6360 and requires an
              EISA system. (05/03/93 and later)

    /F:x - Force the target SCSI ID x exist. Host adapter will assume
              that the target SCSI ID x is connected to SCSI bus.

    /H:x - Specifies the host adapter SCSI ID. A number from 0-7 replaces
              x. The default ID is 7. If you specify an invalid number, the
              default is used.

    /PIO - Use programmed I/O to transfer data to/from the SCSI bus.
              (05/03/93 and later)

    /Y - Enable parity checking on the SCSI bus (DEFAULT).
    /!Y - Disable parity checking on the SCSI bus.
