                               DISK01.SYS
                        INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INTRODUCTION:

DISK01.SYS is an OS/2 disk driver replacement for IDA or IDE models of
the COMPAQ ProSignia, COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO/XL, or systems equipped with the
32-bit FAST-SCSI-2 Controller which experience an Error Message #3400
during operating system initialization.

Note: There is no additional support for COMPAQ SCSI controllers
provided by this driver. This driver only fixes the problem which
generates the Error Message #3400. SCSI support for OS/2 1.3 is
provided by using Microsoft OS/2 1.3, which supports the COMPAQ SCSI
LADDR drivers.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

o IDA or IDE model of COMPAQ ProSignia, COMPAQ SYSTEMPRO/XL, or
systems equipped with the COMPAQ Fast-SCSI-2 Controller.

        AND

o MS OS/2 Version 1.21 as published by Compaq or IBM Operating
        System/2 Version 1.3

WHO SHOULD USE:

Anyone with a COMPAQ computer configured as described under
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS and is experiencing the Error Message #3400.

HOW TO USE:

        1. Insert SoftPaq diskette #368 in drive A.

        2. Start the COPYDISK.CMD program by typing A:\COPYDISK and
pressing the ENTER key. This program will copy the
DISK01.SYS file to the root directory of drive C: and save a
backup copy of the previous version as DISK01.SAV.

        3. Remove the SoftPaq diskette and select Shutdown from the
Desktop menu of the Desktop Manager group in the
Presentation Manager. After all sessions have been closed,
restart the system by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. The system will
start using the new disk driver.

EFFECTS ON YOUR SYSTEM:

Your system will use the new DISK01.SYS file, eliminating the
Error Message #3400 during operating system initialization.
